If we talk about competitor, there is no other organization serving the same purpose as my organization. But, here are three examples of Indigenous organizations working in the academic area keeping focus on Indigenous community.
Here critically evaluate is done on three Indigenous organizations.
- Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies
- They develop, preserve and provide the collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people They promote coloration and partnerships with academic, government, non-government, not-for-profit organizations which are related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait people.
- Giving free memberships to everyone who is related to any Aboriginal and Torres Strait organization is the main aspect of their organization.
- This organization is run by elected leaders through them and some government ministers.
My project is to make an organization which serves the platform between institutes and indigenous people. I may get access to the educational material, papers and documents from this organization and I may even get a free membership from this organization. So, these materials can be very helpful to my organization for giving indigenous knowledge to the institutes.
- Victorian aboriginal education association
- They give advice to their communities about issues and opportunities for education
- They monitor issues and trends of educations and training that impacts on Koorie students.
- Celebrating success in Koorie education and training is also the major part of this organization.
By organizing the operation of the organization like ADVICE, MONITOR, ADVOCACY AND CELEBRATE can make operation and services effective.
- Indigenous Graduate Student Association (IGSA)
- Giving encourage to Indigenous and non-indigenous students for taking research into indigenous studies is the main aim of the organization
- Inspiring professors also for taking research into the indigenous area.
- Providing professional and academic opportunities to the Indigenous people, hosting and promoting events are also the part of the organization.
Providing student memberships for Indigenous people from this association will be beneficial because it will give direct connections to Indigenous students.
A gap which I found is the flow of Indigenous study materials from Indigenous organization to institutes and lack of platform available between institutes and Indigenous professors. My organization will create a platform between institutes and professors and the links for material available about Indigenous studies.
